As an R&D engineer I have investigated the effect of using alternative fuels in modern diesel engines on emissions (especially NOx & PM) and fuel consumption. Within this research the most important fuels were Biodiesel, Fischer-Tropsch Diesel and Bio Ethanol (pure or blended with other alternative fuels).
