As a new principal, I was lucky enough to become friends with Gay. As a mentor, she showed me how leadership looks, she helped me find my way and demonstrated the importance of collaboration and teamwork. Gay is an exceptional leader, and wonderful educationalist and a dear friend. I will forever be in her debt, and I’m sure that those who have been lucky enough to work around her feel the same.

I have had the privilege of being led by Gay for the past three years. During this time, I have worked closely with Gay to develop and grow Melbourne Montessori School’s Adolescent program. MMS is now Victoria’s first Montessori school in to offer a complete Montessori educational pathway for children from 15 months to 18 years old. Gay is a motivated, forward-thinking and highly intelligent principal who is always on the pulse of her community. She is a great leader who provides warmth and care for all; She will also provide firm and direct leadership when needed. I have learned a lot from her fine stewardship and know very few people with her drive and enthusiasm. Apart from developing the Adolescent program, Gay’s visionary leadership has seen the implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, development of long day-care, the implementation of Montessori Football, overseeing building program including the IB Building, curriculum development among other achievements. Beyond the gates of the School, Gay is a highly proactive member of the national Montessori landscape. She is indeed an asset in every sense.

Melbourne Montessori School is an independent, co-educational school currently catering for children from 18 months to 18 years. There are two main campuses and a Long Day Care option partnered with Headland Montessori. Montessori education encompasses all standard curriculum and STEM subjects but focusses these through the talents of the students combined with enquiry-based, concept teaching and learning. It is advantageous for every child as the creative environments stimulate real engagement and authentic opportunities which maximise each child's learning. Show less

Head of Curriculum and Science Coordinator, introduced child-centred, enquiry-based curriculum into this thriving, family-oriented junior school. Extra curricular clubs and activities enhanced the opportunities. I also began a children's charity and helped guide the students to raise enough money in 6 weeks to build a school in Papua New Guinea.
