Jun 2018 - Nov 2020
After the successful handover and an initial period of me staying with new contractor in the direct labour for a transitional period, I was asked to join the GFAST team. My role was to manage the area of Midlands, Wales and the West Country. My objectives were to work with various sub-contractors to ensure the delivery of GFAST to these areas with strict quarterly targets. I would report to senior management, the client and run the contractors to ensure that all works where completed to spec, in time and in the correct order. After a very successful period, we managed to secure more work in VDSL, H12, HD Upgrade, ILC Copper, 512 and Second Dslam Of which my role changed to run all of these projects within my area.We continue to exceed our targets both financially and numerically to keep the client happy and the business profitable whilst ensuring Safety targets were also hit during a difficult period of lockdown with a lot of travel and movement restrictions imposed on our operatives. Due to my previous experience, I was asked to first help, then run a direct labour model for Morrisons after a previous contractor had pulled out of the area. I would be responsible for the running of 12 gangs, 3 supervisors and depot staff to ensure the depot.Initial main of objectives was to bring the depot and its staff and operative’s up to code and standard in regards to Health and safety and working practices. I would also be programming works and liaising with the various key holders in regards to Timings of works required to ensure that they all hit their targets. Another objective was to help turn the business around and make it profitable to help in eventually making it attractive for another sub-contractor to come in and take on the depot and its staff so that Morrisons could walk away from the direct labour model.
