I have worked with Gavin for a number of years both as a client and a supply agent. Gavin is a detailed delivery agent with strong engineering skills and experience. He has worked successfully for both large multinational organisation and small enterprises and has been successful in both. He has an infectious enthusiasm for the work that he undertakes and is motivated and organised to success in what he does.

My experience of over 28 years in the construction industry had led me to conclude that most buildings record documentation collation and storage could be improved to increase both the existing operational efficiency of a building and the future efficiency of on-going projects. Having played a major role in critical engineering sites for the previous 12 years, mainly in the area of design and project managing/building data centres and disaster recovery sites, I formed Global Documentation in conjunction with my business partner, Nigel Farrow. Our combined wealth of experience in the construction industry and the understanding of many of the pitfalls of poorly collated record documentation and its effect on a building's operational performance led us to create the RIedms platform (Record Information Electronic Documents Management System). This creates a central online hub of all record information documents which can be implemented in a number of ways proven to reduce both on-going operational resource and costs, along with project costs and survey works for our clients. Since starting GD we have worked for companies such as Standard Chartered Bank, Rolls Royce Motor Cars and Telecity, amongst others. Along with our RIedms platform, Global Documentation also offers a broad range of services, including data centre design and project management, building services / critical facility engineering, IT infrastructure, risk management, project management incorporating facilities management, trouble shooting and problem resolution.

During the two year period I project managed 8 projects ranging from Co- location Data Centres at Global Switch, new offices located in Europe and a medium density Data Centre located within Lehman's European Headquarters. This project was undertaken within a live environment connecting into the existing building's infrastructure. My responsibilities included the following skill sets; •Produce Client's Brief. •Produce Client's Budget cost sheet/ programme and get project approval. •Produce Client's Project Execution Plan. •Produce Client's RFP for Structural, MEP and Architectural works. •Attend Tender, Mid Tender presentations and form part of awarding the project to Consultants and Contractors. •Critique MEP, Structural, Architectural, Security and IT consultants design. •Liaison with Lehman Brothers' internal IT, Security departments and head of CRE. •Heavily involved in implementing and using BIW (Document control system Lehman Brothers incorporated into all projects). I was heavily involved with Morgan Stanley Tier 4 Data Centre from concept through to construction. Regularly attended site meetings with contractors resolving current site issues so as to meet construction programme. This project was a fast track programme and won the data centre of the year award. I was the lead mechanical engineer on Merrill Lynch disaster recovery centre, which was at Tender stage. The project is closely linked to their new tier 4 data centre on the same site which meant communications between all teams were essential.

Gained extensive experience on heat loss/gains calculations, ventilation, heating and cooling distribution systems, boiler plant rooms and chiller plants, cold and hot water services. Gained experience on railway and underground projects which meant passing and obtaining my PTS and Green card. Involved in Sussex University Innovation Centre project from concept through to Completion. The design involved natural ventilation where possible and under floor heating/cooling. Worked as part of a site based team for the design of Barclays European Headquarters situated in the Canary Wharf. Designed the special areas such as restaurant, gymnasium, fine dining and executive floor mechanical services. Prepared mechanical drawings and schedule of equipments. Project managed the accommodation works MEP package which was the CAT B fit out, CAT A modifications. Regularly attended site meetings with contractors resolving current site issues so as to meet construction programme. Communication is a vital part of this project between the client, consultant and contractors as this is a fast track programme. Led the M&E design for Barclays Capital Disaster recovery centre from start through to Tender stage. The design was critical as the disaster recovery centre was situated above their Tier 4 data centre and was served from the data centres M&E services. The data centre was being brought online at the same time the disaster recovery centre was being built.
