This was a short part time job as a promoter for cold cuts and meats. I had never been a promoter nor worked in a supermarket, so it was definitely an eye opening experience. My tasks were mainly to cook and serve ham or sausages to passersby, and then clean up and take stock of the company's stock in the supermarket. This was my first time working in the food industry, as well as working abroad in New Zealand. Here I was tasked with serving customers, setting up and cleaning tables, as well as taking orders. I also did things like washing up and filling up water bottles, and replenishing alcoholic drinks in the fridges. It was a good experience working in a foreign country as well as being in the Food industry. This was my first time working in the food industry, as well as working abroad in New Zealand. Worked In a small Comics and Board games shop as a Retail assistant. My job Consisted of many varied tasks, such as cleaning and setting up shop, doing opening and closing balances, cashier duty, looking after the shop (There was a shortage of staff, so I sometimes just worked some shifts alone), moving displays, pricing etc. I also needed to get familiar with the different board games and teach customers how to play them, or run sample games and tutorials for new players. Miniatures tabletop games like Warhammer were one of the shop's biggest sellers, so I also needed to teach players the rules, build and paint miniatures as well as keep stock. This was a new experience for me as my previous employment had a large group of workers as opposed to here where I mostly worked alone during my shifts, so it was a good to learn how to manage things on my own. Muji is a famous Japanese retail company that sells a wide variety of household and consumer goods, including clothes, furniture, food and stationary. The concept of Muji is having no brand, and this is alluded in its name, which can be translated to “no brand goods”. This was my first time working, and I learned a lot in terms of how to communicate and service customers, as well as looking after the store and keeping inventory. I was a retail assistant, which meant that I had a section of the store to keep watch over, replenishing stock or assisting customers when needed. Although it was only two months, I felt that I learned a lot in the field of retail, and it has given me invaluable work experience. Show less
