Jayesh has been a student in two of the graduate courses that I teach at UTA: Advanced Mechanics of Materials and Structural Dynamics. In addition to earning an A in both courses, he has been active in class participation and his analytical skills help him break advanced concepts to fundamental principles. I am of the impression that Jayesh is not only hardworking and intelligent but is a leader among his peers. I believe his sincerity, lateral thinking ability, technical and communication skills will be an asset for any organization he is involved with.

Shih-Ho (Simon) Chao, Ph.D., P.E.

Mr. Gautam took several my graduate courses including Prestressed Concrete, Plastic Analysis & Design of Steel Structures. He was the top student in my classes. He also assisted me with several projects at the lab. I noticed that he looks into things very deeply and can easily digest the difficult concepts. He is also very active and a leader in student societies such as SEI - ASCE Student Chapter. Besides strong academic abilities, he also performed excellently at company that he had internship with. I received great compliments about him from the company he worked at. I firmly believe that he will be a great addition to any firm that he joins in the future.

Established in 1999, Structural Solutions Inc. is a structural engineering firms providing both ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING AND CONNECTION ENGINEERING DESIGN services. Working as a structural engineering Intern through rigorous application of fundamental structural engineering principles and material sciences. I acquired a holistic understanding and foresight to better apply structural design. My eight months of work experience involved ✓ DESIGN OF SHEAR AND MOMENT CONNECTIONS FOR CONVENTIONAL FRAMING SYSTEMS using 13th/14th edition of AISC specifications. The shear connections design encompassed various connection configurations covered in chapter J and K of the specification. ✓ DESIGN OF VERTICAL BRACING CONNECTIONS FOR LATERAL LOAD RESISTING SYSTEMS STEMS using Design Guide 29 for various structures including Radford Army Ammunition Plant-Virginia, Our Lady of Walsingham among others. ✓ DESIGN OF STEEL STAIRCASE and HANDRAILS using NAAMM design guides for structures such as, UT Aspen, Tyndall at Roberston Hill-Austin, High Density Storage at UT Austin. ✓ ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING for unique situations such as one involving hanging Piano upside down from ceiling, Shade Canopy at Parmer Event Center, Austin, Football Stadium at Abilene Christian University. ✓ EXAMPLES of projects for connection engineering include buildings serving as retail and commercial facilities, educational and religious institutions such as Ohio State University at Marion, Arlington Central Library and City Council, Offices at Kimball Park, Children’s Service Center in Pennsylvania.

I worked in L&T-MHPS Boilers Private Limited which is a 51:49 JOINT VENTURE between LARSEN & TOUBRO Limited (L&T), India and MITSUBISHI HITACHI POWER SYSTEMS (MHPS), Japan. It is engaged in the business of design, engineering, manufacturing, selling and maintenance and servicing of SUPERCRITICAL BOILERS AND PULVERISERS in India. I worked in the capacity of a STRUCTURAL ENGINEER for the load bearing STEEL STRUCTURE OF SUPER CRITICAL BOILERS for thermal power plants having capacities ranging from 660 MWe to 1000 MWe My job responsibilities included the following ✓ DESIGNED THE STEEL LOAD BEARING STRUCTURE of super-critical boilers for thermal power plants using STAAD.PRO and TEKLA for 3X660MWe Mahagenco Thermal Power Station, Koradi, India and 2X660MWe JPVL Thermal Power Station, Nigrie, India. ✓ OPTIMIZED the structure FOR PRE-BID ENGINEERING DESIGN of 11X660MWe NTPC (National thermal power plant). ✓ Performed SEISMIC ANALYSIS AND DESIGN for 2X660MWe JPVL Thermal Power Station, Nigrie, India. ✓ SUPERVISED ON-SITE RECTIFICATION WORK on behalf of design team to offset the increased residual stresses in steel members created by gas cutting. ✓ ANSWERED TECHNICAL QUERIES related to fabrication and erection errors for 3X660MWe Mahagenco Thermal Power Station. ✓ EXAMINED STRUCTURE DURING HYRDRO TEST as part of design team for 3X660MWe Mahagenco Thermal Power Station. ✓ AUTOMATED DESIGN AND DETAILING PROCESS of primary structure, an unprecedented work in our organization. The design forces of members was extracted from STAAD into excel sheets using VB macros. Strength and serviceability were then checked by dynamic iteration to obtain instantaneous pass or fail result. Final member dimensions extracted by VB macros were fed as AutoCad commands to give the complete detailing product. ✓ Department REDUCED 2 MONTHS OF THE 42 MONTHS OF PROJECT TIME and saved cost on material used. This process is now included in the chain of operation for every project.
