Book Donation Drive
-
Sep 2020 - Nov 2020
The covid 19 pandemic had caused all schools to shut down. This had restricted students from access to their school libraries which were a great source for books. While some of us had access to kindles to read, many didn't. These students were not as privileged as us to have kindles to feed their imagination and thoughts. Even before the pandemic, there were schools that had libraries but did not have the same global, internationally read books as we did. At the same time, there were students who did not have libraries in their schools that they could access anytime. These students do not have access to these story books or access to literature simply because of being underprivileged. Reading should not be a privilege for anyone. It is every child's right to read and I attempt to facilitate this. I, therefore, organized a collection drive for books in view of this. The donations were solely for the four government and public schools, one of them being the Masonic public school, present within our parameters. I got in touch with the school principals and school librarian's to get a database as to how many students require these books. I was able to reach the members of our society and successfully complete this initiative. Show less
