Technical Lead
-
Jun 2016 - Sep 2018
Worked as the Technical Lead on the Local Care Record, an award-winning real-time clinical Portal used to share patient records between NHS Trusts and over 140 GP Practices in 3 south-east London boroughs. Led the delivery of projects valued at £1.5 million, while ensuring continued operational service and proactive system resilience to handle increases in demand. The Portal is a Single Page Application written in HTML, CSS3 and JavaScript (Require.js, Sammy.js, Knockout.js), secured with Federated Security. Data is shared using distributed RESTful APIs built on C#, MVC, Web API and FHIR (https://www.hl7.org/fhir/).- Built a cloud-hosted version of the Portal on Azure App Services and secured with Azure AD, plus a "Local Care Record SDK", a suite of documentation and code examples to demonstrate functionality to new partners.- Delivered an integration with Community Services, giving staff access to patient records that were previously inaccessible, and sharing records back with the existing user-base.- Led the delivery of an integration to expand the outreach of the Portal into a further 3 south-east London boroughs, doubling the user-base and the data shared.- Leading an integration with the NHS 111 Service, which provides Portal access to call handlers and FHIR-based alerting when caring for vulnerable patients.- Leading an integration with Social Care organisations to share health and social care records between respective patient care systems, using FHIR APIs and role-based access control.- Cultivated an agile delivery model compatible with the requirements of NHS Change Management, allowing for project releases plus a quarterly maintenance release cycle.- Won the 'Best use of IT to support integrated healthcare services' award at the EHI Awards in October 2016.- Presented the system and its use of FHIR for data sharing at the HL7 Forum in December 2017.Find out more about the Local Care Record at:https://www.kingshealthpartners.org/localcarerecord

Contract Software Developer
-
Mar 2014 - Dec 2015
Completion of several contractual engagements for a large blue-chip consultancy, specialising in defence and aerospace systems.- Design and delivery of a software tool, written in C#.NET, to facilitate the bulk import and export of system data to and from CSV/Excel format, including support for metadata mapping and selective import and exports. This allowed support and test teams to quickly set-up and tear down BAE's development and test environments to troubleshoot difficult integration defects in a new software delivery.- Recovery and implementation of a suite of upgrades to a legacy workflow application (VB6), its Oracle 11g data store, and .NET-based data feeds. This included production of an appropriate recovery plan, liaising with project stakeholders to resolve issues, and delivery of an implementation plan. This provided additional capability to the end-client and the positive recovery promoted customer retention and strengthened BAE's relationship with its end-users.- Design, development and delivery of an extensible C#.NET library, coupled with GIS capability, including the provision of user-drawn polygons on an integrated ESRI map. This allowed for a significant uplift in user capability and a solution which could easily be built upon in future software implementations.- Design and implementation of a set of deliverable services providing an integration between data platforms and SharePoint, This comprised itself of the consumption of RESTful services, and development of a PKI-enabled architecture on both IIS and Tomcat platforms, which was consumed by both C#.NET and Java clients, providing certificate-based mutual authentication for web service transactions.

Secure Systems Software Engineer
-
Sep 2009 - Mar 2014
Development and delivery of various software development projects for clients within secure systems.- Worked on a long-term project to design and develop a modernised replacement for an established VB6 command and control system in use across a number of European police forces. The replacement was a thin WPF client utilising cutting-edge .NET technologies across the full application stack.- Worked on an assignment to extend a client's bespoke e-mail and content management system to bulk import a large number of documents and provide Out Of Office functionality, using JSF and Java technologies supported by current Software Design Patterns (e.g. Facade, Singleton, Builder);- Worked on a complex and high-profile data migration project - providing support and cross-platform integration between legacy and new ECMS systems during a phased user migration. My role on this project began as a junior trainee responsible for drawing up use-cases based on customer requirements, and grew in stature as the project matured. Upon the departure of my team's lead, I filled this position in addition to carrying out my own responsibilities. The team was responsible for designing and developing components and their respective releases to test environments. I received Steria's Service Excellence Award for my contribution.
