Eden Valley Poultry has been on a Continuous Improvement journey since 2014, in 2019 EVP enagaged with Gary and The Barrington Group to further enhance our CI culture and support EVP's vision and mission. Through our engagement with Gary and team we executed a variety of Lean Six Sigma projects, created standard work practices, developed an eye for quality program for finished product specs, implementation of team huddle boards, and delivered an excellent Leadership Certification Program. This program was focused on sustaining changes implemented from process improvements, and was designed with a blend of six sigma best practices, as well as leadership tools, such as change management. EVP's experience with Gary and his team has shown the real value of enagaing with an outside set of eyes. Having people ask different questions about your operation is very effective, as we tend to get wired in the day to day processes and do not always see some of the opportunities in front of us. I would highly recommend for business leaders looking to improve thier operations to reach out to Gary and his team. A highly skilled group of professionals to work with, blended with the passion for the work they do is a sure recipe for success. Beyond the successes listed above, we have etablised a great working relationship to continue our CI journey. I would be happy to discuss further with anyone who would like more details on the work Eden Valley has done with Gary and The Barrignton Group, you can reach me at troyl@edenvalleypoultry.com.

Gary is a great mentor and teacher, and always gives creative ideas on how to apply the Lean Six Sigma tools to solving a problem. Our group classes had a good mix of information and activities to keep us engaged. In mentoring sessions, he was able to guide me through the best way to apply Lean Six Sigma tools to my specific problem.

Creator and illustrator for The Cox-Box - a Lean Six Sigma Cartoon Strip and other Lean Six Sigma training related cartoons.Breathing new life into the world of business process improvement isn’t easy. But I attempted do to just that. I recently finished work on a feature-length comic book – entitled “Another Crazy Idea?”with Mary Federico from US-based Rath & Strong Management Consultants. Folks at this leading firm live and breathe Lean and Six Sigma - methods used to pinpoint problems and cut waste out of business and manufacturing processes. The Lean and Six Sigma methods have been widely adopted by companies like Toyota, Wal-Mart and General Electric, to name a few. It’s all pretty dry stuff. But not since I put my creative drawing ability with my Lean and Six Sigma Black Belt skills and created the indomitable ‘Six Sigma Guy’ which lives through my strip; "The Cox-Box". This cartoon strip was my first foray into the world of cartooning on this topic. Those who know Six Sigma tools will appreciate the play on words from the "Box-Cox Transformation" used for data transformation. I started out doing the comic strip "The Cox-Box" with iSixSigma Magazine in 2005, posting bi-weekly cartoon blogs on their website and featured in each issue of their magazine; iSixSigma Magazine. Six Sigma Guy is the typical engineering nerd. He has glasses, he is balding, and he always wears a pocket protector. As it turned out the white collar international engineering community love him. I have since created cartoons for Lean Six Sigma consultants and trainers to be included in teaching and reference material. For information on how you can obtain copies of the Cox-Box or Another Crazy Idea?
