  'illicit Tobacco Task Force' (ITTF). Undertaking complex and technically challenging investigations in conjunction with the Australian Crime Investigation Commission (ACIC) & Australian Border Force (ABF). Current projects include National and trans-national crime combined with Financial Investigations identifying proceeds of crime closely associated with organised crime. A strong alliance has been formed with police agencies, customs, immigration and non-government agencies to identify, track, arrest and prosecute persons /companies involved in the manufacture, growing, importation and distribution of illicit tobacco products which deny the Australian community of many millions of dollars in excise avoidance. As recent as January 2020, the ITTF seized more than $40 million dollars worth of tobacco in raids conducted in Northern NSW. Ground breaking covert technical adjuncts are at the forefront of the Task Force operations. The objective is to break the back of unlawful operators, seize assets and prosecute offenders.
