Manufacturing Engineer
-
Feb 2020 - Sep 2020
I worked in Manufacturing Engineering for 8 months contributing to the redesign of the F35 Manufacturing System Design to improve production flow and efficiency. I introduced the deployment of In-process Issue Recording & Analysis system to Production & development of digital system based on a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge. I also took part in distance learning of Manufacturing Engineering Techniques to broaden and deepen my own knowledge base through new applications and techniques, this decision was come to after reflecting on my own personal knowledge and skill level in this area. I spent time evaluating the current touch times for each Product within the F35 Product Portfolio and then identified the largest areas of variation within Assembly/Operation touch time for further investigation. I developed a matrix of assembly times, by product, process and operation to facilitate the understanding of commonality between build profiles and aid the decision on mix model production line set ups. I gathered Voice of the Customer and captured requirements for the digital tool to help with RFTD. I lead the analysis of performance of identified Assemblies running new system, cross-referencing the number of issues with the Direct labour hours associated with the build and NC counts - a sound theoretical approach. I pitched the idea to members of senior leadership. The development of the manual RFTD trial system to prove out the User Specifications defined in VoC was inclusive of: Setting of data recording spreadsheets and Contributing to the drafting of Training packages for issue identification/data analysis and daily standard work. Focal for ME at daily meetings (CCC) with shop floor operatives and team coaches.

System Engineer
-
Sep 2019 - Mar 2020
In my systems engineering rotation for the PCU I was directly involved with the product requirement capture with the Customer. I was then assigned to a small team to design a test rig which considers hardware and software to verify the requirements. This involved writing test scripts in Python and researching the hardware needed. The hardware was then bought from our supplier (cost and performance were considered). We had regular contact with our supplier and Customer. I oversaw the high-level design, including documentation. I had all my documentation internally reviewed by my team and then once again by the chief engineer’s office before it was discussed at the primary design review. The PDR involved stakeholders from testing, systems, hardware, software and the chief engineer’s office, we took minutes and afterwards established an action plan to implement the results of the review. Before starting the design, we looked at the lessons learned from other projects and evaluated the new technology that was available to us - the rig would have to be in operation for around 20 years and establish users’ requirements for improvement. The rig was designed to be as generic as possible to allow for future use by other projects which would aid our simplification and lean strategy.

I spent time working in the UAE with GE field support engineers. I visited Etihad Engineering facilities in Abu Dhabi and met the Customer technical experts in avionics and power. I was onboard the B777 observing the ELMS system in the field. I had the opportunity to board a B787 and look at avionics such as RDC. I had time at DAFZA and met professionals with in GE who work there. I spent time working with Emirates Engineering at Dubai Airport. I was on board the B777 and A380 and learned about the avionics in the flight deck. I spent time with engines experts for the GE90 and GP7200. I was actually part of a final engine inspection during A-check. I was part of a team inspecting a GP7200 using GE Mentor hand held scopes. I also got to meet the GE on wing support engineers.

Customer Coordinator
-
Mar 2019 - Sep 2019
During my time working in programme management for the Gulfstream 650 I was entirely responsible for the on-time delivery and forecasting of the primary panels. I would be the point of contact for the customer and communicate with them daily to give an update on progress. I would be in discussion with stakeholders (client, subcontractors, suppliers) on a regular basis. I would attend several meetings a day with product leaders and the manufacturing cell to track progress and unblock any issues. I would run meetings involving any returns and ensure we fix the issues as quickly as possible. I would work with the cell lead and prepare and agree what panels were a priority this week.

Mechanical Engineer
-
Jul 2018 - Mar 2019
I was working as a mechanical design engineer helping to develop the new ELMS for the B777X. Performing practical through testing and by securing the relevant resource and tools like tensile strength machines to investigate the performance of rivets whilst binding aluminium (fatigue testing). I researched the effects of scratches on the panel and the result on structural integrity/safety of the product. I performed bonding test to ensure the panels are within the required limit. I investigated why some connectors were failing using X-rays and I then provided feedback on the results to the supplier through a face to face meeting, contributing to recommendations for improvement. Using NX I make changes to 3D models and then have them reviewed by a lead engineer. I gathered details on components such as weight to assist another site abroad with their analysis. I built supports for our panels so they can be tested more efficiently.

Sustainment Engineer
-
Sep 2017 - Jul 2018
I have contributed to the evaluation and development of continuous improvement systems as I have worked on the aftermarket sustainment engineering for the B777 Electrical Load Management System making changes to drawings using AutoCAD and updating documentation whilst supporting the manufacturing cell. I used AutoCAD inventor to develop some prototype models in 3D. I used AutoCAD 2D to make any changes to drawings which would then be reviewed by a technical expert before I had them uploaded to windchill. If there were any line issues, I would assist the operators by providing any product or technical knowledge, I would apply knowledge and experience to investigate and solve problems arising during engineering tasks and implement corrective action. This would often lead to a fault-finding investigation to improve the effectiveness of engineering products. I assisted to assign tasks to team members and helped with stand up meetings in the morning and review meetings by learning Agile Project Management. I have had experience within Product Engineering, this involved looking into Non-Conformities using TipQA, supporting new products through manufacture and testing whilst communicating with customers. I regularly had to construct documentation and send this information to the customer highlighting any technical issues. I would then investigate the issue and await a response from the customer before feeding this information back
