This role sits within Gas Standards and Safety, within the CBOS output and has a wide range of responsibilities. This role specifically covers the north and east of Tasmania but also stretches state wide as necessary. Specific duties include • Implementing programs for delegated gas installation approval processes, providing leadership and coordinating the implementation of allocated state wide specialist audit programs and emerging gas industry projects. Representing the department on industry development committees. Facilitate project development initiatives or strategies and implement timely outcomes for the gas industry. • Undertaking technical and social risk analysis of the natural gas industry and government gas safety policy, interpreting legislation, standards and codes, providing technical and safety policy advice to the Director/Manager Gas Safety, industry stakeholders and government agencies enabling drafting of gas safety policy in gas supply and reliability. • Analysing the risk and safety of gas infrastructure and utilisation with prescribed technical and certification standards, issuing acceptances within delegations, preparing recommendations and advising stakeholders, the Manager Gas Safety and national regulators of emerging safety requirements. • Conducting field inspections and managing inspection programs to verify gas network construction standards and risks from live gas operations. Identifying gas safety risks, and liaising with gas licensees and senior management to achieve compliance. • Building and maintaining relationships with external and internal stakeholders, providing technical insights where necessary.
