Worked as a consultant for the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, providing expertise and assistance to PNGASL for the transition to Thales ATM TopSky system, including operational use, procedures and training development and delivery. Role details include; a. A technical and operational assessment and review of the NiuSky ATS system and proposed physical and data configurations; b. To review the existing system and operations identify and develop any operational practices, procedures (HMI) and documentation required to support the transition and new operating modes; c. .To assist in identifying, developing and reviewing the training plan, training packages and documentation requirements to enable successful transition training and controller engagement and acceptance of the new system. d. To undertake and review operational testing, verification and validation of system software, functionalities and data-sets to ensure system integrity and fit for purpose prior to operational implementation; e. The design of Area, Arrivals and TMA Simulator program and exercises; developed an ATC Separation Standards and NiuSky Instructional Workbook for Area trainees, created the NiuSky National ATS Procedures Manual and developed the NiuSky Assessors Reference Manual and Assessment Form.

Operated as part of the Brisbane En-route ATS instructional team. This involved close and cooperative interaction with other team members and providing support to the Delivery Supervisor. I was the Learning Academy Subject Matter Expert for Thales ATM system initial training (HMI) , ICAO Class G Air Traffic Services, Aircraft Recognition and Performance and Separation Standards. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualified. This role included;•Delivery of theory modules incorporating lesson plans, testing, examination, and compilation of results;•Delivery of simulation training in basic Automated ATS (Eurocat) system use and operation, Flight Information Services, Procedural and Surveillance based Enroute and Arrivals control services. Responsible for providing input and instruction, with verbal and written feedback, and undertaking assessments and examinations as required;•Undertaking assessment of trainee performance in accordance with the requirements of the ATC training curriculum in both theory and practical phases; •Preparing written reports for student appraisal and feedback;•Maintaining accurate records of student progress and assessment in accordance with relevant Standards (e.g. the Australian Quality Training Framework, Airservices Australia Manual of Standards and Learning Academy Operations Manual)•Design and delivery of remedial training plans when required.• Undertaking additional duties as directed by the Delivery Supervisor. Co-presented paper at the 2005 Audio Engineering Society Conference in New York, based on this work.• Input and advice regarding the operational use and procedures associated with software enhancements, and provision of assistance with transition and implementation planning for software enhancements. • Verification and validation testing of software releases at Thales ATM, Richmond and Airservices, Melbourne Airport.
