Working within The Quality Assurance Directorate for Mechanical Ordnance - QAD(Mech)ORD Initially as a metrology technician after apprenticeship.Additional laboratory management role from early 1990.Part of role dealt with measuring instrument calibration, including the use of 3D coordinate measuring machines, optics and laser interferometry. Also, some experience of specialist gear tooth geometry measurement.Equally involved with verification of sample components, assembled products and sub assemblies during the procurement cycle. This involved checking compliance to manufacturers drawings, and compliance to ANSI ISO and BS specifications, including physical dimensions, surface texture, surface hardness and 3D verification of physical geometry using coordinate measuring machines and direct measurement.
