      Garth Davis, MD, FACS, FASMBS, is a board-certified bariatric surgeon and obesity medicine specialist physician in Houston, Texas. For more than 20 years, Dr. Davis has specialized in bariatric and general surgery and has performed thousands of weight loss surgeries. He is currently working at Houston Methodist West and Houston Methodist Downtown and serves as the Medical Director for the system’s Clinic For Chronic Metabolic Disease. He has started and led several of the largest multidisciplinary weight loss programs and is an invited keynote speaker on topics related to obesity and obesity surgery. Dr. Davis takes an evidence-based, comprehensive, and compassionate approach to care using state-of-the-art minimally invasive surgery. He has expertise in performing gastric bypass and gastric sleeve weight loss procedures, as well as Lap-Band® revision surgery. He also specializes in surgery for heartburn and reflux. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Texas in Austin, Dr. Davis went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he graduated with high honors and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Davis completed his surgical residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he served as administrative Chief Resident. Dr. Davis is a published author of two books: “Proteinaholic: How Our Obsession With Meat is Killing Us” and “The Expert’s Guide to Weight-Loss Surgery.” He’s also a frequent keynote lecturer on the topics of obesity, nutrition, and obesity surgery. He founded the two largest bariatric practices in Houston: the Houston Medical Clinic and the Davis Clinic.
