As a programmer, I've worked for many years with Garrett during which time he did IT support and even managed QA. Garrett is very quick to respond to problems and solves them quickly. He goes beyond what is needed to make things right. Garrett is a positive, hard working, intelligent person who brings extensive IT and QA skills to the job. I would gladly work with him again.

Crosscut Sawyer - Wilderness Trail Maintenance
-
Apr 2016 - Present
Trail maintenance crew leader, crosscut sawyer, and sawyer evaluator with the Scorpions Trail Crew and part of the Cascade Volunteers. The Cascade Volunteers (CV) is the non-profit organization that manages the volunteer effort for the Willamette National Forest (some of the crews also work on other forests from time to time). One of our main priorities is Wilderness trails during the main summer and early fall season. This means hand tools (crosscut saw, Pulaski, axe, loppers, etc). During the winter season, we tend to focus on lower elevation trails, doing more brushing, tread work, and chainsaw. We tend to chase the snow level up in the spring and be chased out by it in the fall. Winters we do rehab and regular trail maintenance with brushing, treadwork, and chainsaw logging in the lower elevations. Some winters we have built new trail which, while being a lot of work, is a fun time for us as well. Summer the emphasis is on higher elevation Wilderness logging with a bit of brushing and treadwork. My (Garrett) personal focus is certainly Wilderness trails. Once the snow allows, there are multiple x-cut logging projects to get the trails open each season in the Waldo Lake Wilderness, Diamond Peak Wilderness, and Three Sisters Wilderness. Our pay comes in the form of being out where we really want to be with a group of like-minded folks. I've made some great friends in my time with this group. Show less
