Dr. Garima Singh volunteered to facilitate some of the workshops offered in the "Beta Fridays" series within the Office of Academic Diversity Initiatives (OADI) between 2013-2015. This series was geared towards self-care practices for our undergraduate students. These workshops had unique combination of coaching based processes of self analysis and reflection along with simple breathing and mindfulness tools. These sessions helped the students to a great extent by easing their stress and anxiety. Her cheerful, upbeat attitude and ability to relate with the participants made it a fun session that students look forward to on Fridays. The participants were able to open up and share with authenticity anything that was discussed about personal or professional challenges that they might be going though. They were quite receptive to the simple tools offered as solutions during the sessions.

I started volunteering with Garima to organize Happiness Programs in Ithaca, NY under the umbrella of the Art of Living Foundation in 2013 to bring self-care and stress-management programs to students and faculty at Cornell University and Ithaca region. Her commitment to bring a lasting positive impact in the community was unwavering. She inspired a whole team of volunteers to work with her on these programs under her leadership. Her team involved mostly undergraduate/graduate students and staff members of Cornell University but also members of the general Ithaca community as well. She and her team organized and conducted several highly successful and much appreciated programs together for over a thousand people. These programs ranged from weekly classes on campus, to seminars and invited talks by internationally renowned speakers. It helped matters that Garima carries a big vision and is passionate about creating successful partnerships which was evident in her working with like-minded groups like Cornell Minds Matters, the Butterthief band etc. Garima's contributions to create a vibrant and caring community of people who were dedicated to the message of creating a violence-free, stress-free environment were immensely successful. She continued to grow personally in this journey as well and went on to become a teacher of the Art of Living's Happiness Programs in 2014. Her ability to connect with different kinds of people, bring diversity together with harmony is her strength. She always finds a way towards solving the most difficult challenges. Her caring and inspiring nature keeps her team going and grow in confidence and commitment. She is passionate about helping people become peaceful internally and dynamic externally and she has brought about a huge transformation in the lives of many people already. I am proud to have walked this journey with her and I wish Garima the very best in all her endeavors.
