• Responsible for the garden, furniture and seasonal categories with full ownership of trading performance, reporting to the Managing Director and Owner regularly. • Identify and onboard new suppliers to increase the breadth of product offering and boost sales performance. • Build rapport with the drop-ship partners, scheduling regular calls and meetings in and out of the office to maintain a close relationship. • Manage inventory and determine purchasing needs based on sales run rates and the marketing calendar. • Work closely with the Marketing team to create ad hoc promotional events and maximise scheduled marketing activity. Within three months of joining Cleverboxes, misfortune struck and Tesco shut down their eCommerce platform, Tesco Direct. This caused Cleverboxes to go into liquidation, a great shame as it was a successful company made up of dedicated, talented professionals. Although I was only there for four months, I learnt a lot from colleagues like Philippa Turner and I'll always be grateful to the owner, Vernon Yerkess, for the opportunity he gave me. Show less

• Manage the cash register, accepting and translating bets into the system so that winnings can be paid out swiftly. • Keyholder responsibility, opening and closing the shop, managing the shop either solo or with assistance from a Cashier when they are on duty. • Responsible for creating monthly rotas, ensuring fairness is applied to maintain a good atmosphere amongst all team members, from the Shop Manager down to the Cashiers. • Work towards sales targets set by the Area Manager, with monthly in-person catch ups to discuss performance and improvements that can be made going into the next month. • Constant training and learning undertaken to keep abreast of new features, mobile betting developments and in-shop opportunities, with a view to giving customers thorough demonstrations of the features and benefits to help the company achieve sales objectives. While working at Coral, the company initiated the ‘Blue Room’, which was an internal new business idea competition. I submitted an idea for a new football coupon, a first team to score concept which I called “First Blood Drawn”. Out of three hundred entries, my idea was selected as one of five finalists. I was invited down to the London for a night at Romford Greyhound Racing, followed by the competition final at the London HQ the next day. Sadly I didn’t win! It was a great experience though and I’m grateful to Shaun Giblin, who was Head of Retail Support at the time, for organising it. Show less
