St. Teresa's Primary School, Belfast I am a Primary 7 teacher in the school but was delighted to be appointed to middle management as Music Coordinator. I am responsible for target setting, producing action plans, reviewing policies, carrying out staff audits and teaching the Primary 7 class. I am responsible for target setting, producing action plans, reviewing policies, carrying out staff audits and teaching the Primary 7 class. I manage a number of peripatetic staff from the Education Authority on a weekly basis. I am in charge of co-ordinating many events throughout the school’s calendar including the annual production which involves sourcing sponsorship, fundraising, directing the production, teaching material and always striving for the highest standards. Having a vast experience of graphic design, I am in charge of producing, designing and editing the school newsletter. One of my other responsibilities is to edit the school website and use social media to promote the school. Innovation is key and I employ my ICT skills to produce bespoke videos for the school and some school events. I use my own initiative to look for new projects to get involved in, to be innovative in my work on a daily basis and at all times demand high standards.

This was one of the toughest years that Higher Education has faced in recent times with proposals for increased student fees. Leading a campaign against this at institutional level and working on Regional and National Lobbying Strategies, it was with great relief for the people of Northern Ireland that the fees were frozen at their current level. This was a major highlight of my work. Also celebrating student success, providing opportunities in media, sport, music and the arts, enterprise and further academia were major projects I was involved in. The post was a privilege and extremely rewarding.

Vice President Campaigns and Communications
-
Jun 2009 - Jun 2010
University Road, Belfast I was elected to this post. In my year as Vice President, I edited the SU Magazine and other publications, took over the All Student Communication Newsletter from the University which saw a dramatic increase in student readership as it was more relevant, oversaw the website, developed and edited the Student Handbook, ran campaigns, acted as a media co-ordinator. Secured £20,000 funding for SUTV and worked closely with my other colleagues in representational issues.
