  Music City is a music shop and music school based in Handsworth, Sheffield. It provides professional level music instrument repairs and a growing music school employing 8 people. • I oversaw every aspect of the planning and development of our family business, under a tight budget we successfully opened a music shop in Handsworth, Sheffield. • Throughout developing our business, I implemented a stock control system which would manage stock efficiently between our web and physical store operations. • I was responsible for all aspects of stock control including purchasing, booking in deliveries, ensuring that stock levels were accurate and training staff on the use and maintenance of the system. • I was responsible for managing the Health & Safety for the business, this included regular risk assessments which included safeguarding vulnerable people as well as general Health & Safety. • As our business grew, I developed robust company procedures to ensure a high level of service delivery over our three different operations.

  Aquaculture was a gardening retailer based over three sites in South Yorkshire. I was responsible for all stock movement and purchasing between sites as well as the warehouse operations for the main distribution centre. • I was a member of the senior management team within Aquaculture. • I managed all warehouse and inter-site operations such as stock movement, stock control system accuracy, inventory management systems, supplier returns and adherence to company policies (such as stock rotation). • I recruited and developed a purchasing and warehouse team of 5 people. I managed most aspects of their day to day working including their workload allocation, working schedule, training, appraisal and discipline (in adherence to company policies). • I managed purchasing functions such as product research, supplier selection, price and contract terms negotiations and I played a lead role in developing Aquaculture’s purchasing strategy. • I built relationships to a very high standard with a number of key suppliers. We regularly underwent product development programs with the aim of bringing high quality products to market with the advantage of better technical knowledge of the product, quality control and enhanced margins. • I worked closely with Manufacturing, Accounts, Sales, Marketing and Operations to ensure a high level of communication which in turn ensures the efficient running of the company.
