Galen and I worked together at Bridgeable in collaboration with a not-for-profit financial institution based in the US. Dedicated to help his team grow, Galen's first steps in the project was to discuss every teammate's development and learning opportunities for the project. As the lead, Galen engaged stakeholders by collaboratively defining goals and potential risks for the project, functional teams' objectives, and personal goals for the client team. I am amazed by Galen's leadership, who, by going beyond a client-vendor relationship and building strong partnerships based on transparency and trust, overcomes any challenges!

Galen is a leader who excels at rapidly prototyping and testing ideas. Galen and his team worked with us to help identify ways that our telephone counseling services could be updated for greater impact on client outcomes. In the span of 5 weeks, Galen’s team helped us build and test new concepts, including a new way of training our counselors and an interactive online tool for counselors to review with our clients. I was very impressed by how quickly Galen’s team was able to take a new idea and transform it into something real, and how much we were able to learn by using those prototypes with our counselors and clients. Galen’s approach significantly shortened the time it took to develop these ideas, and helped build momentum for these new initiatives. I am most impressed by Galen's leadership skills, attention to detail and extreme dedication to his clients.

I work with innovative organizations in the social sector to redesign their services and strategy for greater impact, tackling the four biggest hurdles to innovation: Community consultation (What do our members want?): From community town halls to in-home ethnography, I work with you to identify the best way to engage with your clients and hear their perspectives. Impact Measurement (Are our services delivering the intended benefit?): While multi-year studies provide rigour in measurement, organizations increasingly need to make faster decisions. I work with you and your members to determine the best metrics, indicators, and measurement strategies for your timelines and your members' needs. Organizational Strategy (Where do we go from here?): I work with you to develop strategic frameworks, theories of change, and social impact logic models that reflect the needs of your members and the values of your team, and help you shepherd change over time. Service Innovation (How can we deepen our impact?): I work with your front-line staff, executive team, and members to make improvements and build new services that change the way you work with your members. Past clients include: the Winnipeg Boldness Project, Prosper Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Rise Asset Development, GreenPath Financial Wellness, Engineering Change Lab, the Center for Advanced Hindsight, San Antonio Federal Credit Union Show less

At Bridgeable, I led a multi-disciplinary team of designers, researchers, and business strategists to deliver innovative solutions for clients in the not-for-profit and healthcare sectors. My work focused on helping our clients consult and collaborate with the communities they serve, building prototype products and services to test assumptions, and aligning diverse stakeholders around a clear and inspiring vision for the future.

In this role I was the research lead for strategy projects in the healthcare industry. Using both quantitative and qualitative research methods, I worked directly with clients at Fortune 500 companies to uncover new business opportunities and ways to improve patients’ lives. As a facilitator for co-design and innovation workshops, I helped our clients design and align on initiatives that would address these opportunities.

At Bosch I developed new designs for the SKIL line of cutting tools. I led an ethnography of construction workers in the Chicago metropolitan area and developed proof-of-concept prototypes for five new power tool designs, one of which is currently available to consumers.
