1 in 5 Canadians suffer from chronic pain daily and the costs are staggering! $6 billion annually in direct health care costs; $37 billion annually in job loss, sick days and productivity costs. At the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) - International Pain Summit held in Montreal on September 3, 2010, The Declaration of Montreal was developed. The declaration states: "Access to pain management is a fundamental human right". The Canadian Pain Summit 2012 will be held April 24th in Ottawa. The Canadian Pain Society (CPS) and the Canadian Pain Coalition are co-hostsing this first-ever event and the result will be a much needed Canadian Pain Strategy. Show less
