  Christ in the City is a Catholic non-profit organization in Denver, CO, dedicated to forming missionaries, volunteers, and communities to know, love, and serve the homeless. As missionaries, we strive each day to encounter those living on the streets of Denver and develop authentic friendships with them. In addition to homeless outreach, Christ in the City is a formation organization focused on Catholic theology. Specifically, my role as a missionary includes the following: - Accompany individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, drug/alcohol addiction, and trauma with compassion & support and exercise crisis intervention tactics when necessary. - Develop skills in professional teamwork and collaboration by working with other missionaries & staff on homeless outreach, non-profit management, daily chores, etc. - Live in community with 32 other missionaries from diverse backgrounds, learning valuable skills in conflict management, effective communication, and availability to others’ needs. - Report directly to the Director of Communications to assist in organizational marketing, social media strategies, community & college outreach, and donor relations. - Assist in parish & community outreach in the Denver area to promote involvement in our mission.- Train & supervise volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to participate in homeless outreach. - Network with local agencies to understand available resources to help connect the homeless to them. - Assist in the process of interviewing and reviewing applications for prospective missionaries. - Assisted in coordinating and leading 2018 summer expansion program to Oklahoma City, OK. - Prepared & spoke as one of two emcees for our 2019 Annual Event, sharing our mission with 500 donors & supporters.- Receive intensive spiritual & intellectual formation, including classes in Theology and Catholic Social Teaching accredited through the University of Mary and the Augustine Institute.   SMBHC is a highly-rated honors program that attracts a diverse body of high-performing students to the University of Mississippi and prepares citizen scholars who are fired by the life of the mind, committed to the public good, and driven to find solutions. As a front desk worker, I completed the following: - Managed the front desk and was entrusted with various administrative tasks such answering phone calls & emails about SMBHC and executing clerical tasks for professors & administrators. - As the receptionist, I was the first face that prospective students, parents, and visiting professors encountered, and assisted in answering questions and giving tours of the building. - Interacted with honors faculty and students on a daily basis to ensure they had the highest-quality experience working and learning at SMBHC. - Reported directly to the program manager. - Assisted with various tasks in event planning such as Honors Convocation and Honors Graduation. - Collaborated with other university departments on administrative tasks.
