Working at Tokenmill I gained experience at building web services (APIs) mostly with Java, Clojure and Python in fields of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Big Data and data analysis, crawling, AI. As it's a small company I often got to observe and participate in the whole project pipeline: from mind-storming on initial designs and planning app architecture, to coding, testing (unit & integration), preparing Docker-Compose containers and service monitoring. The company was a very reliable first programming-related workplace, as my more experienced colleagues were always keen to teach effective and clean programming practices, like test-oriented development, task and issue management through Git and other platforms, automated and isolated testing environments, correctly setting up constants, environment variables and so much more.On top of all that, I wasn't spoon-fed my tasks, and independent, creative solutions were highly encouraged. I started off as a junior-programmer with lack of proper understanding what's an HTTP request, improving some functions and fixing bugs. However by about half a year I had majorly contributed to their biggest projects, and played a role of a main developer in a large Java-Clojure web service based on complex Apache Storm pipelines, load balancers, AWS infra-system and database (Elasticsearch) manipulation.I had enjoyed my time in this company and remember them with best sentiments. But I had to quit in order to move to Japan.Summary of technologies I worked with: Java, Clojure, Python, Elasticsearch, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, Git, Apache Storm, Apache UIMA Ruta, AWS, Amazon W3, Docker, Docker-Compose, crawlers, Python Tensorflow, Pandas, Compojure-API (with API schemas), Ubuntu, Logstash, mostly JetBrain IDEs, zookeper, load-balancer, Kibana graphs, Storm Logs.

Room service position at Hard Rock Hotel consisted of receiving and putting through customers' orders over the phone and deliver them to the rooms. Flawless customer service and smooth communication were essential at this job, thus we had lectures and training events on the subject. The work environment was very international, which also helped me improve flexibility and teamwork skills. During university summer breaks I was seeking to experience life abroad, expand my world views and communication skills with people from vastly different backgrounds. Here I gained my first fulltime professional English communication experience in the field of customer service.Restaurant / bar roles were assigned differently every day, which made me into an all-rounded flexible worker, capable to cover the spot in need at the right time: from waitering to bartending, bussing, etc.

    • General Manager
      • Nov 2014 - Jan 2015

All the duties and communication at work was done in full Korean language. Most of the time the owner was away, so I was the sole person in charge of a small guest house, therefore I was responsible for a wide range of duties: reception of guests and consulting, advertising, cleaning of premises, managing inventory, etc. Here I've learnt to be responsible and find a way out of various challenges by myself, as usually there was no one around to give me any instructions. For example, I've developed some understanding of marketing, while focusing on filling up the premises as much as possible in the time of winter (off-season).
