Aclara is an engineering firm that specializes in the design, development, and construction of wastewater treatment plants in Mexico. I was first accepted as an intern in summer 2014 and came back again in the summer of 2016 and 2018 due to the friendly, inclusive and progressive mindset of the company. This repeated internship opportunities at Aclara allowed me to increase the responsibilities I would carry in the company as an intern each time. Starting in 2014, my responsibilities included communication of expected results and documenting progress or problems to help recognize design aspects that still needed work. In 2016, my responsibilities included building, testing and suggesting design changes on prototypes. In 2018, I was tasked to design and build a prototype for an automatized process for a sequential batch reactor (SBR). This gave me the opportunity to work side by side with experts in the field and to experience the process of designing, building and testing new technologies. Show less
