I run operations and product for the Knowledge Futures Group, which builds infrastructure for a more effective, equitable, and sustainable knowledge economy. Our products include the publishing platform PubPub (https://pubpub.org), open data platform the Underlay (https://underlay.org) and digital publication Commonplace (https://commonplace.knowledgefutures.org). So far in this role, I have:• Helped transition the organization from a group within MIT to a fiscal sponsor to an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit.• Managed the organization's yearly audits, finances, forecasting, accounts receivable and payable, and with external organizations, HR and bookkeeping.• Helped the organization budget, develop, rollout, and measure the success of its industry-leading benefits and culture programs, including writing our company handbook, convening our structural justice task-force, transitioning to the four-day workweek, and employing innovative workplace practices to reduce time spent in meetings and increase productivity.• Contributed to our fundraising and sustainability strategies, helping us earn more than $10 million over four years through a combination of grants, memberships, and services revenue.• Lead the day-to-day development of our flagship product PubPub, growing active users and communities by 4X, while building the platform to support innovative publishing projects including Rapid Reviews: COVID-19, the Harvard Data Science Review, APA Open's Technology, Mind and Behavior, Bulletin of the American Astronomical Society, Arcadia Science's research publication, Crimrxiv, Media Studies Press, the San Antonio Review, and thousands more.• Hired and managed a team of 4 developers and one designer.• Contributed to numerous scholarly publishing community working groups, including the KFG-led DocMaps initiative to capture machine-readable editorial events.• Written and delivered in-person and virtual talks about KFG, PubPub, DocMaps, product management, and more.
