Operated monitor or front of house mix consoles as chief engineer or assistant to touring engineers. Provided assistance as system technician for engineers and buyers renting full public address systems. Public address system application ranged from large venue, flown line array systems, to small indoor halls. When not out on a gig I repaired and maintained loudspeakers and other devices in preparation for jobs. I designed PA systems for deployment for a variety of concerts and shows. Managing personal became a familiar exercise when working along side local union stagehand crews. Show less

As a student engineer at SUNY Fredonia I was responsible for the production and live recording of dozens of unique performances put on by the Fredonia School of music. These diverse musical performances would call for anything from a simple stereo technique to a full multitrack recording of the elite ensembles at the SOM including guest soloists like Yo-Yo Ma and tubaist Daniel Perantoni, of Indiana University. Given the situation, the tools at my disposal were part of my success. Sometimes a recording would call for a simple stereo pair and DAW based solution. The fun really came with cutting my teeth on large format, in-line consoles like the Amek Angela and the SSL 4000 G+, paired with high fidelity microphones from Schoeps, Neumann, and Microtech Gefell. These experiences were great exercises in real time trouble shooting and engineering. Other than the aid of my fellow student engineers and advice from professors, I was left to make my own knowledge and intuition while preparing for these recordings. At times this lead me to situations where I would need to interact with multiple patchbays to organize signal flow throughout a comprehensive system of inter-studio tie lines. Other projects would find me traversing cat walks and the inside of concert hall ceilings to fly a multitude of different stereo arrays and spot mics for large multi-track concert recordings. In addition to live concert recordings, I held different engineering positions during studio multitrack sessions conducted for the School of Music. I've worked as a tape-operator, assistant engineer and head engineer. I've also worked at Fredonia as an assistant engineer to guest composers and producers on recording sessions for debuting musical compositions and library music. Show less
