Interim Head of Care and Support and Social Prescribing lead
-
2021 - Present
I have a dual role of leading development of care and support within Age UK Lambeth. I also lead on social prescribing within the organisation. These roles are multidisciplinary, incorporating social inclusion where I manage a team of 20 social prescriber link works, and developing frameworks for practical support to help Age UK Lambeth service users to maintain independence and improve physical and mental wellbeing. The teams I manage provide brief intervention and social prescribing support allowing serice users to focus on what matters to them, taking a holistic approach to their health and wellbeing. Primary achievements in role: - Promoted to Deputy CEO - Instigated & led on Open Door certification ensuring Age UK Lambeth have the right promotion material to embrace older people from the LGBTQ community. - Increased social prescribing team in Lambeth Primary Care Network (PCN) by 80%. Prior to my arrival staff turnover was an issue. I was able to stabilise and inspire the workforce ensuring PCN networks did not leave the organisation. - Negotiated for training budget and staff. I identified an issue around career progression. Our key assets (our employees) were not realising their true potential, with the skills and assets they brought to the company being stymied by gaps in knowledge and access to insights. To overcome this I built an onboarding and ongoing career development initiative focused on training . I was also able to generate funding to ensure this initiative could continue in perpetuity.

Community engagement consultant
-
May 2016 - 2020
My role involves advising on community engagement with particular attention on socially disconnected families and isolated communities. In this role I have developed, managed and run events for parents and children (0-4) - one of the better start programmes. Primary Achievements in role - Delivered a marked increase in attendance and involvement in the project from 16-24 single parent demographs. This has been a difficult audience for LEAP to reach with particularly challenges reaching fathers within this age range. By creating a sense of involvement and empowerment through regular consultation with these groups I was able to communicate the benefits and advantages of the LEAP project and integrate their valuable feedback into the development of the LEAP project. - Consulted on the LEAP monitoring and evaluation (M&E) strategy and framework. This M&E was devised to provide project oversight, diagnostic reporting and impact evaluation for our National Lottery funded project. I identified and defined overall project outcomes providing a strategic plan and devising the monitoring framework. After delivering the M&E plan the project was rated as outperforming at its annual review. - Provided advisement (consulting) and drove forward the 'Parent Champion' volunteering scheme. This initiative is designed to bring parents from within the community into the design and governance process of Lambeth's local children's services. I supported the implementation of the community engagement strategy where their was a general lack of direction. I brought my experience of community engagement from the various Time Banking initiatives I have managed integrating the best features of these to create a framework from which LEAP could develop its co-production with the community to support service design. The outcome was a 45% increase in involvement from key co-production target groups including fathers and young mothers.

Time bank Lambeth Senior Manager

Aug 2006 - Jan 2013
I was charged with development of the time bank franchise for mental health. The time bank is a social inclusion initiative to reintegrate mental-health service users into society. I promoted mental health awareness strategies and learning tools. Managed a team of 4 persons and 200 volunteers. Applicable skill sets for this position: recruitment, office management, overall management of marketing materials, event organisation, liaising with local press, delivering workshops, and management of financial budgets. Primary Achievements in Role • Succeeded in forging partnership between Lambeth Park time bank and local government to create a combined time banking network. I worked to integrate and lobby with the incumbent councillor, Tessa Jowell MP, toward integrating the Time Bank toolkit as the preferred mechanism for social inclusion. The time banking strategy I designed, advocated and integrated across Lambeth is now functioning across 70% mental health programs in London. • Successfully drove the digitisation of the Time Bank initiative creating an online presence now known as Time Banking online. This involved the bringing together of a team of social inclusion experts and communicating our needs to the digital sector. I brought together the IT assets and integrated with a human interface approach with the program tested within our Lambeth Timebank. Time Banking online has now been rolled out across the Time banking and mental health ecosystem within London and the Home Counties..
