Nancy Rothstein
Sev is a great teacher. He helped me get back the high school french I had allowed to fade. His approach to using everyday scenarios as learning tools is really useful and helped the lessons stay with me better than other methods I've tried. I would highly recommend Sev for people of any age who want to learn or re-learn french.

I hired Sev as a French Specialist for Living Language/Random House in August of 2011. He's been an integral part of our team since then. His main duties have been to tutor students in our "eTutoring" program and to maintain various social media projects, including our online message boards, blog, and Twitter feed. Sev has also done editing and translating for us, and he's done content QC of our online courses and apps. Sev works with students of many different levels, from absolute beginners to rather advanced, near-fluent speakers. He is creative and personable as a tutor, encouraging and effective, something I know not just from supervising him for Living Language, but also as one of his private students. Sev has a passion for teaching and for sharing his native language with people who show interest, whether they are outgoing and comfortable, or somewhat reserved and shy. He has all of the qualities that make for a great language teacher and specialist: patience, warmth, professionalism, creativity, enthusiasm, flexibility, and a deep knowledge of the subject matter. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with Sev, and having him share his love of French with new students.

Sev is an excellent writer and language instructor. As his editor on the Living Language Phrase-a-Day Calendar French, I’ve seen his enjoyment of and expertise in all things French first-hand. Not only does he know how to use the lighter side of language to teach, he also finds ways to include cultural tidbits that bring the language, the country and its culture to life. Sev’s ability and willingness to work with little to no supervision while bringing in the project on time and to specs every time, makes working with him stress-free. I know I’ll be hiring him again and again.
