The Centre for International Postgraduate Studies of Environmental Management (CIPSEM) is a facility within the Faculty of Environmental Sciences at TU Dresden and responsible for the implementation of the UNEP/UNESCO/BMU International Postgraduate-Program in Environmental Management for Developing Countries. The target group are environmental experts from developing and emerging countries. Every year, a six-month long course, and three four-week short courses take place. The long course covers a wide range of topics like sustainability, environmental management, and nature-based solutions and emphasizes links between them. The specialized short courses each have annually changing focus such as soil and land resources, integrated water management, ecosystem management and protection of biodiversity, sustainable cities, resource efficiency including waste management, mobility, energy or climate change. As a postdoctoral researcher in a senior level position I am responsible for qualitative data interpretation and analysis from a five-year community climate action research project (MC3). As a member of the CRC research team I also collaborate with research exploring best practices for mobilizing research outcomes to broad audiences via dynamic online platforms. Additionally, I am involved in co-authoring academic papers, organizing and participating in workshops, delivering conference presentations, developing and sharing content for a climate research related blog, and leading virtual on-line dialogues to communicate to the general public. For more visit the Community Research Connections (CRC) site: www.crcresearch.org/discover-crc/about-us Meeting the Climate Change Challenge (MC3) The core focus of MC3 is on exploring innovative local responses to climate change in British Columbia and their application in changing current development paths. We seek to understand the dynamics of innovative and potentially transformative community-level climate action, to inform local government decision-making and regional/national evidence-based policy-making, and to explore social learning processes for transferring knowledge among communities, governments and other relevant stakeholders. MC3 is an interdisciplinary cross-institutional research project, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. The core research team includes a diversity of scholars from Royal Roads University, the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and the Washington State University. Show less
