Mr. Gruber, a former IBM Manager and an experienced SAP Executive, founded FORCAM in 2001 as he realized that the then-available tools for performance monitoring and evaluation by SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) were technically inadequate in meeting the needs of the manufacturing industry. The latest software release FORCAM FORCE (TM) works at the individual machine level, enabling manufacturing order data to be streamed from the top floor to the shop floor. Digital manufacturing depends on data from a diverse set of industrial equipment on the factory floor. Uniform, robust communications are part of the necessary infrastructure for modern business systems and 21st century analysis and decision-making. FORCAM supports the preferred communication standard. The MTConnect standard enables manufacturing equipment to provide data in structured XML rather than proprietary formats. Production can easily be monitored and live data gathered during actual operation for instance in Germany spanning to the U.S. This data is not only fed back into the ERP system but can also be accessed from any mobile device or tablet. Management can correct any deviation from the target in real time and ensure a more efficient and leaner production process.
