  • Performs work within the Department of Planning and Zoning: Administers and enforces zoning ordinances; reviews site plans, permit applications and proffers to ensure compliance with State and Town code requirements; provides information and assistance to citizens and officials; supervises, interprets and enforces the Town Code, with emphasis on zoning and subdivision ordinances. • Serves the Board of Zoning Appeals: Prepares staff reports for variances, appeals, conditional use permits and zoning determinations; attends and provides codified law information on zoning appeal cases brought before the Board of Zoning Appeals; conducts pre-conference applicant meetings with applicants to provide zoning code regulations and clarification. • Coordinates enforcement of zoning regulations: Conducts field property inspections to determine compliance and coordinates corrective actions; notifies Town Code violators via oral and written warnings; issues certified summonses, initiates legal action for noncompliance; serves as the Town’s representative in criminal and civil court cases; maintains detailed records of noncompliant cases.• Performs final review and approval of all building permits and occupancy permits: Confirms electrical, plumbing, mechanical, final building, Fire Marshall and Health Department inspections are complete before issuance of Certificates of Occupancy for both residential and commercial properties. • Oversees Planner in reviewing and analyzing plans and permits: Ensures conformity with Town codes and ordinances and polices; approves final review, makes recommendations for changes. • Oversees Zoning Enforcement staff: Plans the appropriate courses of action on complex zoning cases; coordinates weekends and holiday overtime staff coverage.• Consults with Mayor and Town Council and works with attorneys, developers, building officials, contractors and the general public regarding land use, zoning codes, interpretations and related ordinances.
