I was in charge of the largest department in our organization and the daily visitor experience for guests of the Battleship Missouri Memorial. Responsibilities included:- Supervising 50-60 full & part time staff, including English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean language tour guides. This includes scheduling staff for a 7-day a week attraction operation that provides thousands of guided tours annually.- Daily oversight of customer service standards, overall visitor experience, and staff interactions with guests.- Overseeing the entire recruitment and hiring process for new Tours staff and advancement opportunities for established staff.- Entry level and advanced training of tour guides, including quality control of work performance and supporting a culture of safety at our workplace.- Providing Tours staff to other departments as needed for daytime and after-hours education and private events.- Scheduling and providing VIP tours for visiting dignitaries, high-ranking foreign & domestic military personnel, veterans, former crew members, Make-a-Wish families, and celebrities.- Administrative responsibilities including weekly time sheet management, internal and external correspondence, and managing department budgets.
