As a director of Playout R&D, I have worked extensively with Frank, our chief architect, over the last three years, and for the last seven years within our R&D organization. I was very fortunate to be able to rely on and collaborate with Frank. His technical aptitude is nothing short of remarkable -- The speed and ease with which he is able to understand and utilize diverse technologies, ranging from low-level drivers (in Assembly) to public cloud services is scary (wonderful). When Frank is involved in a technical challenge, I know that the solution will be accurate, elegant and maintainable. He is the highest regarded and most respected R&D leader within our organization. Frank is self-driven and is able to work remotely with a high degree of autonomy. He can also work collaboratively as a member of a highly functioning team. He is approachable, respectful, professional, calm and dedicated to the success of his team, his organization, and his company. This may be the most underrecognized ability that Frank has. He welcomes collaboration with team members regardless of whether they are architects or junior engineers -- He is not intimidating, he is personable, and all of his interpersonal skills are outstanding, including presenting, collaborating, troubleshooting and documenting solutions. His presentation style effectively informs the most knowledgeable and least knowledgeable individuals. Frank is the rare individual that can set the strategic technical vision, can identify and quickly adopt critical capabilities such as emitting telemetry within our software, and can also troubleshoot the most complex, low level customer technical issues we face. His focus, dedication and extensive problem-solving skills are driven by one underlying trait – His commitment to excellence. I can’t say enough good things about Frank. Simply put, he is exceptional.
