Bio
✨ Erik Norman
I have known Franco for a very long time, and right from the start I have been impressed by his mindset – the questions he asks and the way he looks at problems. I thought: "He has the stuff to become a great developer". In 2019, Franco was looking for a new challenge, and I approached him with the idea of combining his scientific background in biotechnology with software development skills. Back then, he only had some basic scripting experience, so it was a bit of a gamble. From the very first day, however, Franco showed great thirst for knowledge and new challenges. I was challenged too, because keeping up with his enthusiasm by continually assigning him new tasks and/or training activities turned out to be a fast-paced job. Human resources such as Franco are rare gems, and while I’m delighted that he has now found a chance to show his real potential, I’m also sad to see him go. Should our professional paths cross again in the future, I would relish the opportunity to work together again in the future.

Frontend Developer
-
Nov 2020 - Present
I joined Bluetensor as a junior frontend developer. During my time at the company, I took over more responsibilities: managing and leading projects using the agile method, being the technical referent for the customer, participating actively in software engineering and CI/CD design and increasingly taking part in backend coding. I have used mainly Javascript and Python as programming languages. I have worked on web and mobile applications using React, React Native, Angular and Vue. I have also acquired working knowledge of Python and Django while working on projects built around AI functionality. For most of the projects, I employed either Amazon's or Google's cloud solutions, like Lambda and Cloud functions, Dynamodb, Firebase. My aim in this role has been that of improving my skills to better meet the challenges at hand. I have achieved this by following the coding and project management best practices closely, employing a TDD (test-driven development) approach, and working on myself to be a better asset within a team. Freelance Developer
-
Jan 2019 - Nov 2020
As a freelance developer, I worked mainly with foreign companies in the HORECA field. The focus of my work has been the development and documentation of REST APIs for channel managers. I have collaborated in designing the Dynamodb-based database used in these projects. I have constantly worked within the AWS environment, getting used to Lambda, Serverless' infrastructure as code, and several other tools connected to my tasks. My aim in this role has been that of transitioning to a new career dictated by a passion discovered during my studies. I have achieved this by bringing my existing coding skills to the professional level and retargeting acquired soft skills for the new requirements. Show less

PHD Student

Jan 2017 - Jan 2019
As a doctoral researcher, I worked at a European Industrial Doctoral Programme focused on Plant Biotechnology. All of my work during my doctorate has been carried out abroad and in foreign languages. I worked with several teams with diverse backgrounds, as a junior researcher at the university and also by self-managing my project while working with the industrial partner. Additionally, a significant part of my work has been of presenting my findings efficiently and understandably, regardless of the audience's background and scientific education. My aim in this role has been that of broadening my professional opportunities while also striving for excellence. I achieved this by improving my soft skills, acquiring a more structured studying method and improving my language knowledge. Show less

Sep 2015 - Aug 2016
My experience in Petra Schwille's group at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry in Munich started as a compulsory internship required for the master's program in applied biotechnology at the Uppsala University. It was later prolonged as a master's project until July 2016 and continued after graduation with the qualification of laboratory technician until November 2016. The goal for the internship and master's project was to gain experience in the use of high precision techniques in the biophysics field. Show less

My eperience in Ilaria Pertot's group at the Edmund Mach Foundation in San Michele all'Adige was part of the final project required for the bachelor program in biomolecular sciences and technologies at the university of Trento. The goal of this project was to expand my knowledge in the plant science field. My main tasks at the FEM have been extraction, selection and identification of bacterial endophytic communities from cold-adapted grapewine plants in typical alpine cultivar fields. Effect of individual strains on plant's cold resistance have been monitored through RT-QPCR of stress-related plant molecular markers from freshly inoculated plant cuttings. Show less
