  My main responsibilities are concerned with the comprehensive support of three high-level industry groups, whose aim is to promote and evolve recycling, manufacturing and health and safety within the UK plastics industry.I have used my knowledge of the industry to write proposals and recycling strategies for the plastics industry to increase awareness within government and amongst civil servants of the importance of plastics recycling to the UK economy. These documents were handed over to government ministers at briefing meetings and we are now in the process of using these documents to arrange meetings with my members and their members of parliament to raise awareness of industry issues with politicians.Each industry group has their own specific promotional work over the year.   This role at the BPF included the management of three key industry groups (Recycling, Construction and Health & Safety), which were made up of one hundred member accounts. My responsibilities included representing industry on technical and environmental issues, preparing newsletters, driving media relations and marketing, and helping to coordinate the organisational structure of the industry. Similarly, the role involved the lobbying of parliamentarians, civil servants and other key stakeholders and influencers, as well as working on international trade initiatives and exhibitions.
