  Our main interest is to identify, develop and validate biomarkers in biological fluids to improve the diagnosis and prognosis of rare lung diseases (alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency and primary ciliary dyskinesia) and Prader-Willi syndrome. Since biological fluids require minimally invasive collection methods, they are easy to implement and automate in clinical settings, so they will be of great interest to the biotech and pharmaceutical companies. The group aims to bridge the gap between basic research and commercial development of diagnostic systems. Also, one of the main objectives of the group is to communicate our findings to the society, which may then contribute through a feedback mechanism to inform the research group on the real needs of patients.
