Among the results obtained in the last eight years, one should highlight: - In spite the fact that the organization is now managing and programming three show halls with a budget that is noticeably smaller than the one it formerly had for a single one, a structural cost reduction of 32% has been achieved. - Notwithstanding an activity budget reduction of 48%, the TNSJ saw a 37% increase in the annual number of spectators comparatively to 2008 and a consistent growth in its occupancy rate, which is currently 79%.* Strongly committed to the internationalization of its productions, the TNSJ organized 57 international tours for its shows between 2000 and 2015. In 2003, as a token of international recognition for its artistic achievements, the TNSJ became the sole Portuguese member of the most prestigious European theatre network – the Union of the Theatres of Europe (UTE).* In June 2011 the TNSJ was honoured with the Novo Norte (New North) award, in the “Creative North” category, for the excellence of its contribution to the national arts, the diffusion of Portuguese culture and the promotion of its city and region of origin.
