    • SIA DESIGN TALK - Growing FDAT
      • Apr 2016 - 2016

GROWING FDAT Francis & Donovan apprenticed under Mun Summ and Richard Hassell at WOHA before forming FDAT. The training provided a substantial foundation for the pairs’ subsequent endeavors; the pair discuss their roots, the experience of starting up and growing the studio, and their approach to design and the practice of architecture. The studio has undertaken a diverse range of projects in various stages of development, ranging from interiors, detached houses, shophouses to larger scale residential and hospitality projects. They will present selected work and examine key studio tenets such as ordering principles, environmental responsiveness, issues of context and identity; providing insight into the thought and decision making process and how the studio balances ideas and practicalities. • PAM DESIGN FORUM - Sustainable Architecture
      • Apr 2010 - 2010

Environmental consciousness has always been a driver in WOHA works since practice in 1995. Francis Goh will be presenting a series of WOHA projects that embodies the firm’s design philosophy and reflects WOHA’s ongoing journey in sustainable architecture while retaining valuable lessons of building in the tropics. Similar yet architectural distinct ideas in sustainability will be demonstrated in a different building scales from residential houses, high-rise apartments, commercial projects to hotel resorts. WOHA will share the design methodology and technology & material involves in either both urban or rural context, to deliver its characteristically green and yet enhance its meaningful architectural ideas behind. While design inspirations are not wholely initiated from sustainable designs but from the client requirements, site studies, programme characteristics and other contextual factors, the marriage of the green features with the uniqueness of architectural design in WOHA works is distinctly original and speaks of architects’ responsibility to create diverse, innovative and exciting environments. Other invited speakers were Professor Dr. Roger Fay, head of the school of Architecture & Design at University of Tasmania, Australia. Kevin Mark Low - Principal of Small Projects, Kuala Lumpur & Professor Dr. Singh Intrachooto, Head of the Building Innovation & Technology Program in Kasetsart University, Bangkok. Show less
