If we are lucky, we encounter exceptional people in our careers whose impact is felt well beyond the time worked together. When we're especially lucky, they are our leaders as Francine was for me during my 3 1/2 years at Excelsior College. My role was new to the College in 2018, bringing Francine's "team" to two. Her judgment of my being a suitable match in the limited time that is any interview was impressive and the first indication of her ability to "read" others. I have truly never worked with, much less FOR, someone whose work ethic, thinking process, approach to supporting colleagues and sense of humor were so closely aligned with my own. Thinking and working so similarly allowed us to quickly be impactful despite being a team of two. As my leader, Francine provided the perfect balance of autonomy and support when needed. Her trust in my judgment in everything from how to approach analyses to seeking ways to optimize use of the ERP planning software to communicating with unit managers, allowed me to learn and grow. Francine frequently sought my ideas and feedback, making me feel valued and respected. Perhaps most memorable for me is that, no matter how busy nor how much stress she may have been experiencing, Francine made time to ask how I was doing, if I needed anything, etc. This level of mindfulness and genuine care was exhibited from day one and never waned. In my humble opinion, it's character traits like these that cannot be taught and differentiate Francine from many others. This is simply how she treats people, both those she manages and anyone with whom she works, realizing each of us has valuable ideas and experiences. This is one of many reasons she is able to bring out the best in others. As a worker herself, Francine is incredibly organized, driven to produce thorough, accurate and timely deliverables and is gifted at building strong relationships across an organization at all levels. Her approachability results in people feeling comfortable asking questions, seeking guidance and raising potential challenges, all of which help a Finance team do its best work in ensuring an organization's financial viability and strength. Any employer that fosters, values and celebrates leaders who work equally as hard to achieve their own success, as they do to advance that of their subordinates and colleagues, will be stronger for having Francine in the fold!

'Impeccable attention to detail' is what comes to mind when I think of Francine. Francine and I met when we were in the same cohort at the UAlbany Weekend MBA program. While Francine and I were never in the same group when it came to projects, this was a great asset. I was able to bounce ideas off of Francine and solicit feedback from her about an assignment or project. Often groups were assigned different scenarios to work on so she was a fresh set of eyes on a project and gave honest feedback and perspective. She is not afraid to be critical when needed, but to do it in a way that is constructive and helps the recipient. Francine's written and oral communications skills are top notch. When giving presentations her style is very clear and concise with supporting slides that helped reinforce her points. I would not hesitate to endorse Francine. We remain in contact even after our time at UAlbany where I still discuss business ideas and concepts off her. She would be a great addition to any team.
