Curator
-
Sep 2017 - Aug 2021
As the curator, I design and create exhibits and work with local groups to bring new people into the museum. I act as the museum educator and am in charge of our public programs. I attend train shows to share information about our museum with the public and encourage people to bring their children out to enjoy our displays and the active rail lines which run next to the museum. Educator
-
Sep 2016 - Jul 2018
I was first hired on as a substitute ELA teacher. After demonstrating my commitment to my students and my readiness to get involved my supervisor expanded my duties to include one-on-one tutoring for employees of major corporations in the area. In my last four months, I was made teacher for the Bridge to GED class, a course to improve English writing and comprehension for students who wished to join the GED class. Telegrapher
-
May 2009 - Dec 2014
As past of a living history project showcasing the contributions of women in 19th century technology I work as a telegrapher at the Railroad Museum educating visitors on the role women played in the formation of our nations first communications network. This is to counter act common depictions of women from this time as being only low paid factory workers, teachers until they married, nurses, and maids.
