Francesca joined our team for a 6-months internship in 2020. Through her sharp strategic thinking in combination with her rigorous approach to solving problems she has been able to add real value to our practice. Her personal story striving for gender equality through sports is incredible authentic and strong and a true source of inspiration for future leadership.

I have worked closely with Francesca Manganella for eight months as her Master's Thesis Supervisor at ESMT Berlin. She studied the disruptive challenges brought by sustainability in the sportswear industry, and presented a Business Model Innovation for the company she had intern with. Francesca proved to be a very competent and determined master student, with the ability to work independently and use her creativity to come up with innovative solutions. I am very impressed with her capacity of being an independent researcher. I found that Francesca has excellent abilities in strategy, digital and innovation management, that she combines with an outstanding drive, resilience and interpersonal skills. I am happy to recommend her and I am sure she will be successful for the business position she wants to pursue.

There's a huge network gap: according to the university you attend or the country you are from, you are exposed to a different network and, therefore, a totally different set of career opportunities. To bridge this gap, I founded My Top Career, a startup aimed at democratising access to dream jobs. At MTC, we provide a platform where students can be mentored by top young professionals in their target function, so that they can learn the key hard and soft skills necessary for entry-level positions. Adidas is a German manufacturer of athletic shoes, apparel & sporting goods. As I love sports, strategy & innovation, working in this role in Adidas was simply perfect. • Took part in the definition and design of Adidas's Digital Strategy for 2021 • Partnered with business stakeholders to support the efficient transition to execution, maximizing the impact of strategy within the given budget and timeline • Conducted qualitative & quantitative research of market gaps and Business Model Innovation opportunities enabled through digital • Contributed to the ecosystem design within the assigned scope by validating strategic inputs and concept work • Participated in 20 customer interviews to investigate and map use cases for new running technologies • Proposed innovative experiences for consumers across the ecosystem in the context of the competitive landscape and reflecting the state of technology I was in a great team that took the time to teach me new skills, support my professional growth and that gave me space to volunteer for extra projects, such as: • writing my Master's thesis on Business Model Innovation caused by the rising importance of Sustainability in the Sportswear industry • ideating and organising a "speaker series" with +100 interns and full-time professionals • researching, proposing and organising online team building activates and events Show less

Tiempo de Juego (TdJ) is an internationally recognized NGO in the network of FIFA and StreetFootballWorld. It utilizes sports & media to promote life skills and leadership among youth in different areas of Colombia. For this consultancy project, we worked on Labzuca, one of TdJ's social businesses focused on B2B multimedia production. Note: The project was planned to take place in Santa Marta, Colombia. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we ran it remotely from Europe. • Collaborated remotely with three other students to formulate a holistic growth strategy for TdJ's social business "Labzuca" (market positioning, USP, sales, and pricing) • Collaborated remotely with Kearney and Simon-Kucher mentors and business stakeholders • Conducted remote interviews with Labzuca's clients to identify unmet customer needs • Tested and proposed innovative solutions to address the gaps in the market • Formulated a comprehensive Value Proposition & growth strategy for Labzuca and suggested a re-focusing of Labuzca's products portfolio to maximize the impact for both customers and TdJ I had a blast while working on this project: my personal mission is to break barriers, so helping TdJ change the life of less fortunate kids was absolutely priceless. The Allianz Customer Model (ACM) is the global initiative of Allianz Group that aims to accelerate the transformation of Allianz's business. ACM unit is responsible for designing and implementing ACM across the entire Allianz Group. • Rolled out a global transformation project ACM (Allianz Customer Model) along the entire insurance value chain • Prepared and aligned roll-out plans for Allianz entities in 7 countries, managing stakeholders globally • Participated with the senior roll-out team in the onsite implementation of the transformation project in Allianz Ireland • Created from scratch a Training “How to Negotiate with Italians” and trained 3 different teams in Allianz ACM Moreover, I was lucky enough to work with a team of senior leaders who taught me a lot & allowed me to suggest and get involved in new projects. Some of the highlights: • I organised and managed a 2-days offsite in Southern Germany, where the entire team underwent innovation training and team building activities • I asked for interns to be sent in the different Allianz OEs to implement the digital transformation program & support the core senior team onsite • I created a cultural negotiation workshop Show less

I started the blog “How to Italian” to help international students learn Italian and get unique glimpses into Italian culture in the fields of Culture, Lifestyle, Cuisine, Music, TV Series, Celebs. I taught myself how to use WordPress, Google Analytics, Mailchimp, FB Ads to create and manage the blog. I learnt and experimented with copywriting, content & email marketing, website & ads design. After a few months, I decided to launch a weekly podcast, but I couldn’t afford to rent a registration studio or buy the proper equipment. So, I only ate eggs for 2 weeks to use the cartons for noise reduction. After some months, I stopped the blog because I moved to Berlin and wanted to get involved in other projects. It was my first experience as a founder, and it taught me fundamental lessons: • don’t focus on too many customer segments but start with one • you can learn anything, but you cannot master everything: build a team or pay someone to take care of tasks too far from your expertise • pay attention to each of your customers: trust and care are essential to get feedback and learn how to serve your clients better Show less

The University of Bologna and Fondazione Golinelli selected other 59 students and me to be part of the "ICARO programme" - a traineeship on Design Thinking Methods for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. This traineeship was a game-changer as it allowed me to discover and fall in love with design thinking and a customer-centric approach to business. We underwent training on DT, and we partnered with different companies to solve their innovation issues. Our team worked with Goodbuyauto, a startup in the automotive industry. During the traineeship, I: • worked in a team of 5 people with different educational backgrounds • leveraged Design Thinking Techniques to research, map and explore solutions • interviewed 50 target customers • identified website’s user experience problems • prototyped and tested 6 different solutions to overcome customers’ trust barriers • presented results to the management board Show less
