Selected as one of the fortunate candidates to participate in the Japan Teaching and Exchange (JET) Programme as a Coordinator for International Relations (CIR). Established in 1987 with the aim to promote foreign language education and internationalization of local communities in Japan, the JET Programme is administered in collaboration with three Japanese government ministries and CLAIR and is one of the world’s biggest cultural exchange programs with over 70,000 participants from more than 67 countries. ・Advised and coordinated sister-city activities, contributing towards a successful agreement between Minamishimabara, Japan and Chieti, Italy ・Arranged first row seats for the Japanese delegation and translated for the Pope at the Papal Audience ・Negotiated rare, special permission for the delegation to enter the Vatican Library, view artifacts and obtain reproductions for display in Minamishimabara City’s museums ・Received overseas guests and successfully interpreted for prominent events, interviews and conferences ・Promoted local attractions and overseas culture on local and national TV, radio, newspapers and online media ・Taught Italian language, culture and intercultural communication, doubling the number of students during my tenure
