  The kunstfenster of the a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School for the Humanities Cologne (formerly known as a.r.t.e.s. galerie) is a doctorate project under the aegis of a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School at the University of Cologne. Having started with the idea of using the long bright hallways at the a.r.t.e.s. offices for art projects, it has since developed into an interdisciplinary platform striving to further a productive dialogue between art and science. Our exhibitions are more than just aesthetic presentations: We attempt to create a lively exchange between artists, curators and scientists on both an interdisciplinary and international basis. In 2009, five scholarship holders at what was then known as a.r.t.e.s. Forschungsschule created the "a.r.t.e.s. kunstfenster on their own initiative. Ever since, it has been a place of impulses and encounters. Artists, curators, students of art and design, and art enthusiasts with innovative ideas are welcome to participate in our projects. A supporting framework programme that is developed individually with the artist accompanies each exhibition.
