I am a teaching artist in the education department at the 2016 Regional Theatre Tony Award winning Paper Mill Playhouse. I privately coach college bound teens on performance etiquette, physicality, text translation, and audition technique. I offer 1-2 hour private sessions where the focus is on finding their, “type,” selecting the right audition material, choosing a training program or post-graduate course of study that will best serve their professional development, discovering their own unique interpretation of the text while still honoring the playwright’s intentions, identifying objectives, obstacles, and actions, aligning physicality with said actions, and most importantly, “Telling the truth under imaginary circumstances.” Show less

I teach the acting portion of a 5-month audition-based musical theatre program for teens at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. My instruction is primarily Meisner-based and incorporates elements of Grotowski and Suzuki Movement, as well as physical discovery exercises based on Ann Bogart and Tina Landau’s, “Viewpoints” work. Later classes focus on scene study and character analysis, with a special focus on playwrights of the twenty-first century. Group improvisation, rooted in the works of Viola Spolin and Del Close, is practiced throughout the length of the course. The program culminates in an industry showcase each January, where the students present scenes that we have work-shopped in collaboration with the vocal and dance instructors during the course of our time together. • Theatre Artist in Residence, Curriculum Course Designer, & Acting Instructor at PPACS
      • Jun 2013 - Mar 2016

I wrote the curriculum and directed the theatre program at a new performing arts school in Center City, Philadelphia. I taught 3 to 4 acting classes a day, 5 days a week for students ages 12-18. My course units included: acting for the stage and screen, theatre tech, (stage crew, management, scenic, & costume design, etc.) playwriting, screenwriting, text analysis, scene study, movement for the stage, audition technique, vocal performance, and theatre history among many others. I wrote plays with the students which were then performed on our school stage, and directed dramatic and musical works such as Disney’s Beauty & the Beast and The Laramie Project. We read, analyzed, and performed selections from a diverse array of works such as August: Osage County, Doubt, Angels in America, A Doll’s House, Rabbit Hole, A Raisin in the Sun, and Clybourne Park. I developed a teaching partnership with the Philadelphia Theatre Company, which brought guest artists and industry professionals to instruct the class, and gave our students the opportunity to attend performances of the company’s 2015/2016 season and participate in post-show talkbacks with the casts. I worked with my students to compose and submit monologues to the Philadelphia Young Playwrights 2016 Young Voices Monologue Competition, and one of my students had her piece selected from among hundreds of submissions to be performed by professional actors onstage at the Drake Theatre as a part of the 2016 Young Voices Monologue Festival.
