I’ve had the pleasure of working with Fran at EXFO, she gave me excellent support (HR). Very professional and efficient.

I had the pleasure of having Fran as my HR resource (business partner) for many years at EXFO. I left EXFO and came back so had to deal with her in many occasions and I always felt that I had someone that cared about me on the human level, not as a number even though we were working in a big company and she is very competent. She is missed and will be appreciated wherever her next challenge is.

During this period, I started as the Office Manager progressing to Manager of Human Resources. Navtel Communications was acquired by EXFO facilitating the combining of two centres, the Physical Measurements in Concord and Navtel Communications in Markham. I was responsible for the successful closing of the Markham office and the transition to the Concord office, managing the personnel changes, the combining of responsibilities, while engaging and building employee relations and trust. Upon successful completion of the move and in addition to my HR responsibilities in Concord, I was asked to support the VP of APAC Sales, managing all HR functions. During this time an acquisition occurred, whereby I also looked after the employees from multiple APAC locations, efficiently and effectively managing change for a smooth transition. Shortly after a local HR professional was hired. EXFO was in the process of setting up a new commissioning system. Based on my systems and finance background, I was asked to help. Upon joining the group, we collaboratively managed to resolve the major issues, create and communicate policies, resolve conflicts, and manage the changes to the sales compensation program. After a period, I was asked to manage the group. During this time, I also became the Business Partner to the Sales Vice President for the Americas as his trusted advisor, managing all HR functions, change management, recruitment, performance management, retention programs, compensation, training and development, succession planning, employee relations and engagement initiatives. I looked after Engineering Services for the Research and Development Department. In this role I had two main functions; the first was the implementation and co-ordination of recruitment, onboarding, and performance management programs. The second was the management of the administration group for the support of the department, performing budget tracking, contract negotiation, fault tracking, and the controlled release of design documentation and drawings to manufacturing, fulfilling the design cycle.
