Joint co-ordinator of Social Inclusion and Equality Research & Joint co-ordinator of Demography, Migration and Integration Research at the ESRI. Senior Research Advisor for the European Migration Network (Ireland). My main areas of research are equality and inclusion, migrant integration, discrimination, work-life balance and childcare and child development. I am currently coordinating a major programme of research on Migrant Integration and Equality funded by the Irish Department of Children, Equality, Disability Integraiton and Youth, and co-ordinating a research programme on Human Rights and Equality for the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission. I have been principal investigator on the Irish Integration Monitor since it started in 2010 and I also co-coordinated a major research programme on Equality from 2007-2012. While continuing longitudinal research on labour market inequality, the position of research officer saw me taking on administrative and teaching responsibilities. I set up a new research project, Employment Relationships at Risk, with a labour economist, Antje Mertens, where we wrote a number of papers on temporary employment in Germany.

During my post-doctoral research fellowship I worked on unemployment in Britain and Germany, publishing an article in the European Sociological Review, and developed my thesis into a book manuscript published in May 2004. I collaborated with Steffen Hillmert on a comparative paper on social class and unemployment, and with Antje Mertens on temporary employment.
