    • Member of Youth Action Group
      • Jan 2016 - Present

During my time as a member of Melbourne City Missions Youth Action Group (YAG), I worked alongside fifteen other young people from a variety of upbringings and life experiences. I undertook each leadership advocacy opportunity which was offered to the group. By continuously stepping myself up, I strengthened my ability to work and hold constructive conversations and network with individuals who do not always share similar values and belief. Furthermore, I was selected to represent the Youth Action Group as a panelist, along with Organisational Chief Executives and Housing Advocates from around Victoria, at the 2016 Family and Reconciliation and Mediation Program Conference. Organised and coordinated the distribution of over 30,000 flyers into letterboxes in the North West Ward of the Moreland City Council for Councillor Dale Martin, Greens Candidate, during the final week of the Moreland Council Election Campaign. I successfully coordinated the distribution of the flyers within three days by building and supporting a team of seventeen individuals who delivered the flyers to each letterbox in the North West Ward.

    • South Ward Organiser
      • Jul 2016 - Oct 2016

The 2016 Local Government Elections saw a surge in both the percentage of community members voting for the Greens and the number of Councillors elected into Moreland Council (from two to four; one in North West Ward, one in North East Ward and two in South Ward). I was fundamental in ensuring the campaign and the campaign team continued to grow in numbers of volunteers and increase the enthusiasm of existing volunteers. I worked hand in hand with the candidates of the South Ward (Councillor Samantha Ratnam, now Councillor Mark Riley and Jessica Dorney) to ensure the campaign and events reflected their desires and ensure maximum voter engagement and contact. As a part of my role, I organised and worked in collaboration with other key individuals, to organise, host and facilitate weekly voter contact events such as door knocks and stalls which ran every second day for the final month of the campaign. Furthermore, I organised a successful Politics in the Pub event which engaged over fifty members of the Greens community and other members of the community. During the organisation of the event, I facilitated meaningful conversations between key stakeholders: the venue, the Greens, possible attendees, volunteers and the panelists (then Mayor Samantha Ratnam, Federal Member of Parliament Janet Rice, Peter Christoff and Kathleen Maltzhan). Cyrenians is an organisation based in Edinburgh, Scotland, which offers a variety of services to individuals experiencing hardship due to personal and systematic inequalities. At the completion of my final year of High School, I decided to move to Edinburgh and live and work in the Cyrenians City Community. The City Community offered a transitional housing service to up to eight young people experiencing homelessness in Edinburgh. Unlike other services, the City Community is staffed 24/7 by other young people from around the global, I was lucky enough to be one of them for seven months. While working in the City Community, I dealt with situations and behaviours which both challenged and strengthened me and my skills of working vulnerable young people. Despite the often fragile environment, I, along with the other volunteers, were successful in creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for the at-risk young people, volunteers and members of the wider community. As one of fifty Ambassadors for One Girl, a Melbourne based NGO which works with women and young adults in Sierra Leone and Uganda, I organised, fundraised and facilitated events. Notably, while undertaking this role in 2014, I coordinated and facilitated an event at the Department of Treasury for the Executive team in which lead to over $1000 being raised for One Girl. Furthermore, during One Girls annual Do it in a Dress Campaign, I built a volunteer team of over fifty college students who undertook roles and leadership positions to organise a school-based event which lead to another $1000 being raised for One Girl. As an 16 year old school student, I decided to partake in a student exchange program to Maddaloni, Italy - around 30 kilometres to the north of Naples. Before leaving for Italy, I had an extremely limited level of Italian language comprehension, reading and speaking skills, after 6 months of living in a rural community, I was able to interact with my host family, friends and community in a coherent manner.
