I worked as a caregiver to a special needs young woman while her parents were having respite on holiday. This meant that I took on the responsibility of another's safety while facilitating her to continue with her daily routines, including activities and chores. This allowed me to demonstrate my ability to communicate clearly with people of all backgrounds, my patience in repeating instructions and my time management to ensure that normality was kept in her daily life. • Assistant Drama Teacher
      • Sep 2011 - Sep 2011

Youth Theatre September 2011My role as assistant teacher was to help explain activities, to motivate the students to get involved, to help plan the sessions and to keep an eye on time constraints. This was a really creative role in which I flourished in coming up with new games and adapting old exercises to make them exciting and relevant. I also did a lot of the advertisement for the class, leafleting the area and talking to the local community; this gave me an insight into marketing strategies for small businesses.

      • Jun 2011 - Jun 2011

This experience submerged me into the world of chambers and gave me a concise understanding of what is involved in being a QC. I was able to examine legal documents, which gave me a heightened appreciation for the importance of lexis and nuances in language, as the interpretation of the written word can be costly to clients. During my time at One Essex Court, I was able to demonstrate my ability to skim read, to apply legal principles to other documents and my capacity to absorb and use new work-related terms coherently.
