Responsibilities included: cataloguing books, assisting students with their learning, and maintaining tidiness of the centre. I am also responsible for the creation and management of the FLC's social media presence, in order to generate and sustain interest in language learning. In addition, I was head of the University's Tandem Language Exchange Scheme, for which I managed a budget of £1,600 to create publicity for and organise events promoting languages and co-operation between home and international students. PR and Communications Intern - Image Group
-
Aug 2013 - Aug 2013
At Image, I was given a multitude of varied tasks, though primarily concentrated on Condor Ferries' "Treats" campaign launched in September. For this, I wrote copy for the website on various destinations accessible by car in the UK and France, wrote promotional emails to be sent to all customers, and wrote a travel article advertising St Malo as a gateway to various treat destinations, which was printed in the Jersey Evening Post. In addition, I wrote blog posts on Employment Law on behalf of a local lawyer; assessed and advised employees of a local financial firm on their Linked In profiles; handled the Facebook and Twitter accounts of various companies; performed a meticulous assessment of two companies' Facebook pages; compiled a database of bloggers to contact to trial a new product; created a PR calendar to raise the profile of a new recruit to a prominent trust company, as well as carrying out other administrative tasks and proof reading. I especially valued the opportunity to attend meetings and observe the process of clients' fledgling ideas being transformed into credible brands through the implementation of thorough and innovative marketing strategies. Cataloguer - Jersey Museum
-
Oct 2011 - Mar 2012
As the summer came to an end, the onrush of visitors was more manageable and thus I left my position as a Visitor Host to join Julia Coutanche in the back offices of the Museum. Here, I used my knowledge of French to scan volumes of old Société Jersiaise bulletins in order to trace how and from whom the Museum had acquired many of its items and input them into the system.

Visitor Host - Jersey Museum
-
Jun 2011 - Oct 2011
In this role, I greeted visitors warmly, promoted the both the Heritage membership and forthcoming events and provided information and directions to certain exhibits as well as answering general questions. Here, my excellent command of French and Spanish was extremely beneficial when dealing with foreign visitors.

Workshadow of Senior Editor, Jon Gripton
-
Aug 2011 - Aug 2011
I was privileged enough to gain a place on the prestigious IoD Work Shadowing Scheme, in which I was able to shadow Jon Gripton, Senior Editor of BBC Jersey for two weeks. From this, I learnt much about what a managerial role entails, whilst equally being afforded the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at how the televised news items are produced, edited, aired and reviewed, as well as assist with the running of the radio shows, research and write news reports, and help in the organisation and writing of interviews. There was also a competitive element to the scheme, in which I had to attend interview in order to gain a place, and provide a report of my experience of the scheme. As a result of my efforts, I was claimed winner and was awarded a silver plaque as well as a trip to the IoD Annual Convention at the O2 Arena in London. (See below for more details) Show less
